Today I will be discussing my thoughts on a great book we read called ” The Wild Robot”, and how Roz’s arrival changed the community.
Roz’s journey took her to an Island, where she see’s a group of otters. These otters were scared of Roz, as she was a strange creature, and they ran away. She started to explore the Island.
She see’s a mountain and decides to climb it. She wanted to get a better view of the Island and everything on it. On her climb, a rock slide came tumbling down on her and a nest of Gosling eggs. The rock slide destroyed all the eggs, except one. Roz decided to raise this Gosling as her own, and to protect all the other animals on the Island.
Roz, then learned how to speak to the Gosling and all the other animals. Teaching them that not all new things are scary. She did many things to help the animals. She changed the way they lived, by building the shelters to protect them. As well as a garden to help feed them during the Winter. By doing this Roz really changed the way the animals lived, and how how they treated eachother.
By building the homes and a place to get food, she took the animals from a life of living in the wild to living in a more civilized community. Living more like we do today. At the end of the story Roz has to leave to survive! We don’t end up knowing if the animals continue to live the way Roz had taught them, or if they went back to living like normal wild animals. My hopes are that they continued living in the community Roz built for them.
